Good Afternoon!

Over the past few months I had been saving up to buy myself another camera. I knew I wanted one that took instant prints, instant film, or polaroid pictures. After doing a lot of research, I decided on the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic camera. I thought it was really cool looking, and I loved how many modes and settings I could change depending on the shooting situation.

I've had it for a couple months now, and I'm still learning the basics of finding the best exposure. What I like about instant film is that you really don't know what each photo will look like until it develops after 90 seconds. It's so fun to play around with as I've been practicing this other world of instax photography. I also love having a tangible item to represent a place I went to or the people I was with. My family have a whole row of albums filled with printed photos of our childhood memories, and even as adults we've continued the tradition. I love having an easy way for me to start my own personal albums of photos.

In the photos above I played around with different shooting modes, like flash, bulb and double exposure. For the bottom left photo, I used a green flashlight in a pitch black room, and the camera was set to bulb mode with the flash off. I simultaneously held down the shutter with one hand while slowly drawing a swirl using the flashlight in the other.

As for the bottom middle photo, I used the double exposure setting. I took a selfie of my side profile in front of a plain wall. Then took a second photo of a pile of autumn leaves. It was one of my first double exposures I tried, and its definitely one of my faves!

I've had so much fun with this camera that I decided to take an instax photo every single day for an entire year. I started this project January 1st, 2018. I'm sure there will be days when I'm at a loss as to what to take a photo of, so I started making a list a couple weeks ago of some ideas I had. I'm hoping it will inspire me to get my creative juices flowing on the days I lack inspiration. My sister even found me this album from Urban Outfitters that holds 365 photos, which will work perfectly for this project!

I plan on updating you all on how this 365 project is going, as well as sharing some shots I've taken along the way. What do you think about instant film photography? Feel free to comment below or DM me on Instagram with your thoughts or questions!
